Off the top of my head I can't remember what was going on.Try turning the Shutter Speed Dial to 'Bulb' mode and give that a try.If I can find more out I'll return and post that info. 
It was frustrating to deal with and took about 1/2 hour of reading through the manual and browsing through the camera's Menu before I figured it out.
